Font standards

E16 themes have many choices when it comes to font setup.

X Font (normal/multibyte)
Fnlib
TrueType

Pango
Xft

In order for a theme to be functional on as many distributions as possible, which choice would be the most effective? Should we limit the themes here to a standard set (possibly UTF8) for the best support? If so which ones would be good candidates?

RE: Font standards

Looks like in general we'd decide to stick to the set of "must have" fonts or use the approach of a current "winter" theme where all setup is passed to the target machine:

"normal/8"
"bold/7"

in this case the list of installed fonts doesn't matter much. we're also can combine this two approaches and define some "good" fonts for our E16 themes, like:

DejaVu
Liberation
fixed
Terminus

i'm aware that hell of a lot themes are using a kind of "artwiz" fonts but for UTF-8 they suck and imho should be definitely removed from public content along with all proprietary font families.
